Specialized consulting

K–2 Screening to Instruction

California schools now screen K–2 students each year for risk of reading difficulties. The Fidelity Speech team helps school teams connect screening results to classroom oral language instruction.

One study found that teachers spent no observed time teaching children to tell stories out loud. Storytelling is a skill that can be taught, and it supports later reading comprehension and writing.

This work is organized within MTSS-LD-CR, a multi-tiered system of supports that includes language development and cultural responsiveness.

We don't diagnose, and our work adds to, never replaces, school screening.
